新春喜讯 | 人文社科学院7位学子连连收获剑桥offer，快来沾沾福气

在这个生龙活虎、虎虎生威的新年伊始，好消息频频传来。

来自宁波诺丁汉大学人文社科学院经济系、国际事务与国际关系学系的7位同学陆续收到了来自剑桥大学的offer，在竞争激烈的申请季提前锁定世界顶尖名校。

让我们来分享这份收获的喜悦，听听他们的心得体会，一起“沾沾福气”。

杨泽厚

专业：经济学

得知被录取的时候我感到很释然，因为在大一我就选择了剑桥大学作为我的目标并一直为之努力。

在我看来，宁诺的多元化与国际平台为我在申请国外研究生的时候“加分”不少，校园里丰富的硬件设施也为学生的努力创造了良好的基础。与此同时，宁诺也培养了我独自自主的能力，使我养成了对自己负责任的态度，从而不断向着自己的目标追求。

当然，一切的申请都是以成绩为基础的，所以一定要努力学习，提高自己的均分。

I felt relieved when I received the offer because I chose Cambridge as my ambitious goal when I was in year one. 

As far as I am concerned, the international and diverse platform UNNC has provided us will certainly make us more competitive when applying for prestigious master’s programmes. And its excellent facilities like the new library have created a good foundation for students’ efforts. In addition, UNNC’s emphasis on self-study has stimulated my initiative and has developed the responsibility for myself, which encouraged me to constantly work for my goal. 

Of course, every application will be based on your academic results so it is essential to study hard and improve your grades. 

收到这份offer时，最大的感受是感恩。很感激经济系提供的研究助理机会，能让我们在学习课堂理论知识之外锻炼自己的实践能力（比如，熟练运用软件的能力），和老师的交流也极大拓展了我的知识面。

同时，我也觉得很幸运能够参加到学校提供的众多全球交换机会中去，增长了见识，是段有趣的、而且对我未来规划影响很大的经历。

I felt extremely grateful, and then excited and surprised when I received this offer. 

I’m very grateful for the research assistant opportunities that the School of Economics offers, which has built up my practical skills and the ability of programming outside of class. Besides, discussions with the teachers have greatly broadened my mind. Also, I feel lucky that UNNC provides many chances to exchange abroad. During my exchange, I got the chance to have a taste of the teaching styles in another university.

It was a really intriguing experience for me and greatly influenced my plan for my future.

我觉得自己非常幸运可以就读宁波诺丁汉大学，在这里，我不仅认识了很多优秀的同学和朋友，开放包容的环境也让我更愿意独立思考，做自己想做的事情。我觉得宁诺和经济专业带给我了最可贵的三件宝物：英语能力、逻辑思维和克服一切困难的勇气。

从大一开始，我经常在周末和外教、国际生朋友们参加学校体育部组织的活动。通过这些活动，我认识了很多国际生朋友和外国老师，和他们的互动和交流也让我在玩乐中练习了英语。我认为，经济学是一门逻辑的艺术，而在学习经济学的同时也让我的逻辑思维能力得到了锻炼和升级。在这种能力的加持下，我的学业和工作都变得更加有条理，这也让我的研究生申请受益匪浅。经济系的课程是“硬核”的，学习也是充满挑战的。

在这样的环境下，我和我身边的同学更愿意选择报团取暖，通过建立学习讨论小组等方式交流学习经验，相互之间讨论难题，互相激励共同面对挑战。而我也在这样的氛围下修炼出了不惧任何困难的勇气。现在回头来看，当初学习有多辛苦，现在拿到的offer就有多值得！

I think I am very lucky to study at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. In this campus, I not only met many excellent classmates and friends, but also became more willing to think independently and do what I want to do. UNNC and the School of Economics have offered me three most valuable treasures: English ability,logical thinking and courage to overcome all difficulties. 

Since year one, I frequently participated in sports with international students and staff. The interaction and communication with them have allowed me to practise my English while having fun. I think economics is the art of logic and my logical thinking ability has been exercised and upgraded by studying this programme. With the blessing of this ability, my studies and work have become more organised. In addition to this, my graduate application also benefited from this. Last but not least, economics is difficult and challenging. My classmates and I are more willing to choose to study together and motivate each other to face challenges. And I also cultivated the courage not to be afraid of any difficulties in such an atmosphere. 

Looking back now, it was so hard to study at the beginning, but it’s all been worthwhile to get the offer I have now.

刚收到offer的时候我是惊讶且开心的，因为这个项目录取的人很少，这个offer也算是对自己三年努力的认可。

无论是师资还是第二课堂实践，宁诺都为我的申请提供了很大的帮助。经济系的老师富有耐心，也非常愿意跟同学们交流，为我们提供研究助理的机会，让我初步体验到了经济研究究竟是什么。经常在学校里召开的学术会议也为我提供了宝贵的机会去了解经济学的各个领域，寻找自己感兴趣的方向。

与此同时，经济系的老师们非常提倡独立思考和批判性思维。比如Paolo Epifani教授, 我很喜欢他上课的方式，能够把一个点进行深挖，将数学与经济理论相结合，且鼓励大家不要一味地相信书本上的东西。这一切都为我的申请奠定了坚实的基础。

After receiving the offer, I was really surprised as it is quite difficult to getting admitted to the programme due to its small size. But I think this offer can be a form of recognition of my previous efforts. 

In my opinion, UNNC has well equipped me for my postgraduate study. Our tutors in the School of Economics are quite patient and willing to communicate with students as well as offering research assistant opportunities. Academic conferences held at UNNC have helped me to learn about different areas in economics and find the area I am interested in. 

Besides, the School of Economics really encourages independent and critical thinking. For instance, I really like the teaching style of Prof. Paolo Epifani, who told us that we should never believe the textbook blindly.

专业：国际学

我觉得这次拿到剑桥的offer和学校的教育，包括课程、老师、学习氛围和资源等等是离不开的。国际事务与国际关系（IS）历史学、国际关系学、政治学和社会学融合的多元化课程帮助我确立了对英国学派和建构主义国际关系理论的兴趣。在我学习的过程中，特别是在申请时准备研究计划的时候，我的几位导师们都给我提出了非常宝贵的意见，在我的申请里加入了一些我原本没有想到过的视角和内容。回想起来，其实IS的每一位老师都是“宝藏老师”，他们不仅自己的研究非常有趣，还非常乐于和学生分享，特别是会针对学生的兴趣给他们推荐文献和理论。

此外，我在大学期间都是宁诺模拟联合国协会的成员，在大二时担任了秘书长，四年来参与了许多各大高校举办的模联活动，这对我的影响也非常大。因为正是高中阶段参加过的模联活动促使我在大学选择国际事务与国际关系专业，也正是在模联活动中我发现了许多同学对规范、话语、观念等国际关系中的社会元素的忽视，也由此开始探索这些社会元素在国际组织的运行和全球治理的开展过程中的作用。

I am very grateful for the curriculum, tutors, learning environment and resources of the School of International Studies and UNNC, which have helped me establish interests in the English School and Neo-liberal Institutionalism. 

During both my study and application process, several of my tutors gave me very valuable opinions and added some perspectives and contents I had never thought of before for my application. I think every tutor in the School of International Studies is kind and lovely. They are always very happy to share thoughts with students. They especially like to recommend literature and theories to students according to our interests. 

Besides, my interests in the Model United Nations since high school has also influenced me a lot. It was in the Model United Nations activities that I found that many people ignored the social elements in international relations such as norms, discourse and ideas, and thus I began to explore the role of these social elements in the operation of international organisations and the development of global governance.

四年的学习通过教给我们一系列社哲理论，帮助我们建构自己的思维体系，因而能够跳出立场和视角的限制、剥开事情的表象，尝试看清事件表面之下真正的逻辑。这种能力在我参与一系列国际活动和项目设计的时候起到了至关重要的作用。

教授们相当负责也很有趣，为我们的学术和人生道路提供了极宝贵的引导，于我们是非常平等的良师益友。

我们专业同学都很学术，而且可能因为要沉下心读大量文献，很少会有浮躁的情绪，也不太受外界影响。这种氛围和剑桥的研究性风格也非常适配，使我们提前适应将来的研究生涯。

By delivering a range of political, social and philosophical theories, International Studies (IS) helps us to construct our own systems of thinking, so that we are able to transcend appearances and identify the logic beneath the surface of events regardless of the limits of our identity and perspectives. This has been crucial when I was involved in a number of international events and projects design. 

Tutors of IS are very responsible and interesting as well who have equal relationships with us students, providing valuable guidance on our academic and life decisions.

My peers at IS are quite academic and work hard because we are given a lot of reading to do. This atmosphere is also very compatible with the research-based style of Cambridge and has helped us to adapt to our future research careers in advance.

贺钰婷

专业：国际学

这个项目是目前最符合我的研究兴趣和研究方向的，让我有一种梦想成真的感觉。我不但感到自己的学术能力得到了认可，也感觉自己离进入梦想的学术领域又近了一些。我认为在宁诺国际事务与国际关系学系（IS）接受本科教育是一件很幸运的事情，它的课程涉及了人文社科领域的很多不同方面，也给了我们更多选择的自由度。

IS的学术资源也非常强，教授们来自顶尖大学，也是对相关领域的学界贡献很大、颇有建树、治学严谨的学者，与他们交谈总能学到很多读书、做人的道理。IS对我来说，更像是在不断传达一种思维方式——敢于追问、敢于创新、敢于挑战权威。因此很感谢本科时光能够在IS度过，也特别感激IS在过去的几年中不断引导我向不同的角度思考问题、培养了我的勇气和思辨能力。拥有这些敢于打破、乐于创新的思维方式，外加在各类作业、学术训练中获得的可转移技能，我相信对未来的人生发展一定会受益无穷。

This MPhil programme is the most relevant to my research interest, I feel like my dream has come true. I think I am more than lucky to receive education at the School of International Studies (IS), UNNC. It requires students to read more, rather than to take more classes. The assigned readings cover a wide range of topics, as well as our course design, including international relations, politics, history, anthropology, philosophy, sociology and even economics. We also have many choices on optional courses and exchange programmes.

The School of International Studies is also known for its academic resource and research environment. The tutors are from prestigious universities and have contributed a lot to their fields of study in academia. Communicating with them has been one of the happiest times during my UG studies, as I can always acquire new knowledge and learn from their life philosophy. For me, IS is not merely a ‘subject’, but a way of thinking. It tells us to be brave and encourage us to inquire on the unknown, see the unseen and reveal the things behind the surface. Therefore, I am so grateful that IS has guided me to always think outside of the box. After four years of education in IS, I believe people will continuously benefit from the ‘IS way of thinking’ and the transferable skills gained here.
