Student societies that go beyond

With nearly a hundred student organisations and societies on campus, UNNC students will never be short of opportunities to meet like-minded people, make friends or get involved in diverse events and activities. 

The stunning street dances of X-Shows, song rehearsals echoing in the SAIC studio, a cappella performances in the auditorium, or the flow of an orchestra performing Ode to Joy...!

Let’s check out what they’ve got! 

UNNC Orchestra

Although UNNC does not have music related courses, the UNNC Orchestra welcomes several talented students every year. They made their debut by winning first place in a provincial arts competition. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they gathered online and played Viva La Vida together virtually to send out their best wishes. Their powerful and touching performance was also reported by China Youth Daily.

X-Cape

If you went to the 2020 music festival, you must have seen the impressive a cappella performance Try Everything. With no instrumental accompaniment, performers control the flow of music with their different voices, tones and beats. Since its establishment in 2017, X-Cape performs at various large campus activities such as Show Nights and X-shows. 

Shuffle Crew 

Shuffle Crew is one of several student societies whose performances always attract a full attendance. Jazz, hip-hop, popping… Shuffle Crew members are good at a variety of dances.  Regardless of the performance style, they always win applause and screams. 

With a passion for dancing, the Shuffle Crew have also earned a good reputation outside of campus. At the 2017 Ningbo Music Festival, they performed with the renowned rapper GAI. 

UNNC Choir

Shattering the staid image of traditional choirs, UNNC Choir endeavors to be innovative. They have made various bold attempts to try different kinds of music, from popular songs to conceptual music. In 2018, their performance of Rainbow and Castle in the Sky won the first prize in the Zhejiang College Students Art Festival. In 2020, their song If Tomorrow is the Next Life took third prize in a national music competition organised by QQ Music.
